2014 Sugar Ruffles Highlights

Here are just a few of my favourite wedding cakes from 2014. I enjoyed working with lots of lovely couples to design their wedding cakes!



Here are some of our 2014 brides & grooms cutting their Sugar Ruffles wedding cakes.


I created the following four cakes in 2014 for Cake Craft Guides- ‘Wedding Cakes & Sugar Flowers’ and ‘Party Cakes’ Magazines.

My autumn cake with sugar pinecones, autumn leaves and sugar sunflower was featured in Party Cakes Magazine Issue 21 as an exclusive step by step tutorial.

My tropical cake with sugar hibiscus flowers, frangipani flowers and shells was featured in Party Cakes Issue 20 on the cover & as an exclusive step by step tutorial inside the magazine.

My silver scalloped beaded wedding cake with white and silver peony sugar flowers was featured in Wedding Cakes & Sugar Flowers Magazine Issue 19 as an exclusive step by step project.

My dove grey wedding cake with petal ruffles, a large white sugar rose, brunia berries, dusty miller and hydrangea flowers was featured in Wedding Cakes & Sugar Flowers Magazine Issue 18 as an exclusive step by step tutorial

I am really excited to be continuing as a contributor to Cake Craft Guides in 2015 and look forward to creating four new exclusive tutorials!




I was also featured in the Cake Masters Magazine August 2014 Wedding Cake Special Edition with an exclusive Interview.

Sugar Ruffles was featured in Torty od Mamy Magazine in November 2014 with an Interview and step by step project.

I am looking forward to working on all the exciting new designs and projects planned for 2015.


Marsala Colour of the Year- Wedding Cake

Marsala Colour of the Year- Wedding Cake

Marsala has been chosen as the Pantone colour of the year for 2015. I enjoyed incorporating this colour into my last wedding cake of the year. This wedding cake featured lace and cascading roses in shades of burgundy, marsala, wine and ivory and was delivered to the beautiful Armathwaite Hall. The flavours of this cake were as follows- top tier- vanilla bean, 2nd tier- chocolate orange truffle, 3rd tier- summer berries, 4th tier- lemon.

Boxes of Roses Wedding Cake




‘Boxes of Roses’ Wedding cake with scalloped silver and pearl embellishment, red & ivory sugar roses, topped with an ivory sugar bow with sparkly white chocolate brooch. 

Delivered to Inn on the Lake for the wedding of Clare and Chris. Congratulations to you both!

Top tier- gluten and dairy-free vanilla, 2nd tier- lemon, 3rd tier- chocolate, Bottom tier- gluten and dairy-free carrot cake.


We also created mini cupcake wedding favours topped with red & ivory roses and feathers for each wedding guest.

Wedding Cake- Pearls with ivory and blue flowers

A 3- tier wedding cake delivered to Merewood Country House Hotel for the wedding of Frances and James. 


received a lovely message from Frances after the wedding-

Red Roses and Snowflakes Dessert Table

Dessert table delivered to The Wordsworth Hotel. Congratulations to the happy couple and happy birthday to bride Emma, who was also celebrating her 30th birthday!

The table consisted of a cupcake tower with large vanilla cupcake and chocolate and vanilla cupcakes topped with red roses, ‘i do’ & ’30’ picks, snowflakes & hearts, white chocolate rose cake pops and malteser trees.

Purple and Ivory Wedding Cake


Wedding cake with lace, piped pearls, sugar roses and hydrangea flowers for the wedding of Natalie and Chris at Lodore Falls Hotel.



 Vanilla bean cupcakes topped with sugar roses, love birds and hearts. Collected along with some white chocolate rose cake pops with truffle centres and white chocolate cake pops.

Surprise Birthday Cake


This cake was ordered as a birthday surprise for Tracey, by her Mum Linda, for her 50th birthday party. The cake featured piped pearls, sugar roses, calla lilies and hydrangea flowers. 

I received some really lovely messages from Tracey and Linda after the party!

"A massive great big thank you for my stunning birthday cake it took my breath away. Only problem is I now don't want to cut it ! Feel very privileged to have had a cake made by sugar ruffles........" Tracey

"Tracy, was speechless when she saw her cake, she cried! Thank you so much for creating this beautiful cake for my daughters 50th Birthday, we absolutely love it, so many people have commented. Now all we have to do is get Tracy to cut into it as we are dying to taste it!" Linda


Recent Wedding Cakes

Here are some of our recent wedding cakes.

This wedding cake was delivered to Ambleside Parish Centre for the wedding of John and Emma. The design incorporated lots of elements from Emma’s wedding dress and including the bows and the satin-effect flowers with pearl centres.  I received some lovely feedback from John and Emma after the wedding 
 "I just wanted to thank you for the amazing cake! It was absolutely beautiful and it definitely featured well at our wedding - we were touched by the detail and effort you went to for us." John and Emma


A 3-tier wedding cake delivered to Linthwaite House Hotel featuring a piped pearl design and pale dusky pink sugar roses.


A Purple ombre wedding cake delivered to The Swan Hotel, Newby Bridge for the wedding of Lucy and Michael. I received a lovely message from Lucy after the wedding "It really was gorgeous! Everyone loved it! Thank you so much x" Lucy.


A Rustic wedding cake delivered to The Wild Boar for the wedding of Nicola and John. Carrot cake with orange buttercream, vanilla bean cake with summer berries buttercream & lemon cake filled with with lemon curd and lemon buttercream. Decorated with fresh fruit and beautiful flowers from Made in Flowers. Congratulations to the happy couple!
